The author explores the concept of corporeal transit in the work of artists Mona Hatoum and Teresa Margolles as bodies and their parts end up in museums and galleries for differing purposes. He presents an investigation on an inspection's roots in modern medicine as well as the still and moving images' relationships to the anatomy lesson. He also notes that the ephemerality created by collage provides a virtual depth to the viewer's recreative concepts of historical time of the exhibits.
