Abstract

The article reports on the eruption of Mount Ontake in central Japan on October 1, 2014. It states that the volcanic disaster comes without a warning that killed at least 47 people where most of them are mountain climbers. It adds that 230 hikers have survived while military helicopters continue to ferry rescue workers and soldiers to seek for possible survivors and to retrieve dead bodies.
