Abstract

The article discusses how the relaxation of the term limits of presidents affect the political structure of countries in Latin America. Topics covered include the effect of constitutional design on power separation and the brief history of reelection bans in the region in the 19th century. Also mentioned is the implications of stricter term limits for the opposition groups.
