Approaches to African-American alumni outreach efforts will be explored to reveal the impact on participation and giving rates. Also, this article provides an authentic case study that will reveal how one institution through its outreach efforts connected with African-American alumni. In conclusion, recommendations are offered for both academic and student affairs administrators who seek to create outreach initiatives that will engage African-American alumni and encourage them to remain lifelong contributors to the institution.
