Abstract
- The article explores how electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy can be used in the provenance determination of pigments used in paintings. Details are provided on an analysis of the pigments indigo and ultramarine, first synthesized in the late 19th-century, which was used to distinguish between synthetic and plant-based indigo.
