The article discusses the importance of capturing and transmitting tacit institutional knowledge as a basic information sharing concept to prevent disruption of library services. Topics discussed include information usually considered as tacit knowledge such as collection location, budgets and idiosyncratic numbering system, and impediments to creating a knowledge transfer system. Also discussed are guides on how libraries can create an environment which facilitates transfer of knowledge.
