Abstract
- The article discusses the history of Trinidad de Salcedo, a Spanish villa in east Texas occupied by soldiers and civilians during the early 19th century. According to the author, the villa's residents were ethnically, nationally, and professionally diverse and played a significant role in the political and military history of late colonial Texas. It is suggested that the presence of both military and civilian personnel in the villa made it more successful than other Spanish settlements.
