The alcohol, smoking and substance involvement screening test.

The article reports on the impact that the misuse of alcohol and other drugs can have on individuals, families and the community and discusses the role that screening for drug and alcohol use can play in reducing substance misuse. A discussion of a misuse screening resource called the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test with Substance, which was developed by the DASSA-World Health Organization Collaborative Centre at the University of Adelaide in Australia, is presented.
