Abstract

Objective: Ultrasound technologies have gained increasing prominence and accessibility in the developing world as manufacturers focus on this region as an emerging market. More extensive ultrasound use holds promise for addressing the disproportionate morbidity and mortality that continues to plague the developing world, particularly in the area of obstetrics.<br />Conclusion: In this article, we describe the challenge of making ultrasound technologies affordable to health care providers in resource-limited regions vis-à-vis an innovative group of midwives in Nairobi.
