Abstract

Leukotriene B <subscript>4</subscript> receptor 1 (BLT1), a high-affinity G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) for leukotriene B <subscript>4</subscript> (LTB <subscript>4</subscript> ), plays important roles in inflammatory and immune reactions. Although the LTB <subscript>4</subscript> -BLT1 axis is known to promote inflammation, the binding proteins that modulate LTB <subscript>4</subscript> -BLT1 signaling have not been identified. Recently, we discovered that receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) interacts with BLT1 and modulates LTB <subscript>4</subscript> -BLT1 signaling. We propose RAGE as a new class of GPCR modulator and a new target of future GPCR studies.
