Abstract

To compensate for the lack of disease-specific survival data in the study by Rae et al., the US National Cancer Data Base was used to identify patients with histologically confirmed central neurocytoma from 2004 to 2013 based on the same inclusion criteria and relative survival analysis was performed. A total of 781 patients were identified. The 5-year overall survival (OS) for the overall cohort was 87.2%, and the 5-year survival relative to the expected survival of an age-, and gender-matched US standard population was 89.5% (95% CI 86.6%-91.9%). In summary, the relative survival analysis presented here indicates that central neurocytoma was a component of the cause of mortality in the affected US population.<br /> (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Ltd.
