Abstract

This study reports a novel hollow Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O@Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S material used as a catalyst for enzyme free glucose detection. Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O@Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S is successfully synthesized by a facile in-situ growth method. The obtained Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O@Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S exhibits a hollow structure with a Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S rich surface. Compared to Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O spheres, electrochemical results reveal that the Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O@Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S material exhibits a much higher catalytic activity toward glucose oxidation due to synergistic effect between Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O and Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S. The as-prepared Cu <subscript>2</subscript> O@Cu <subscript>1.8</subscript> S produces a high sensitivity, a fast sensing response, a wide linear range in concentrations of 1-1000 μM, and an excellent selectivity, thus prove to be a promising catalyst for enzyme free glucose detection.<br /> (Copyright © 2018 Elsevier B.V.
