Abstract

Trans-radial access offers several unique advantages and is being used more frequently for interventional radiology procedures. We report the use of trans-radial arterial access to embolize a large bleeding angiomyolipoma in a 30-year-old pregnant patient presenting in the first trimester. Trans-radial approach was chosen to minimize the effects of radiation on the fetus. Subsequent postprocedural pregnancy course was uneventful with stability of the angiomyolipoma and no further hemorrhage. This case highlights the benefits of trans-radial embolotherapy in gravid patients to reduce the risk of radiation exposure to the fetus.<br /> (Copyright Journal of Radiology Case Reports.)
