Abstract
- The adult brain consumes glucose for energy needs and stores glucose as glycogen mainly in astrocytes. Schulz et al. (2020. J. Cell Biol.https://doi.org/10.1083/jcb.201807127) identify the stress-regulated metabolic enzyme GDPGP1 that promotes neuronal survival likely through glycogen reserves in mouse and C. elegans neurons.<br /> (© 2020 Singhal et al.)
