Abstract

Thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy is challenging, considering the technical difficulty in controlling the needle angle and thread through the port. However, effective simulation of the procedure remains to be established. Here, we describe our first experience with thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy simulation using a three-dimensional printed thoracic model and a handmade rolled sponge. Owing to the transparent structure, we could simultaneously confirm the suturing technique through the monitor (two-dimensional) and direct vision (three-dimensional). We are certain that our realistic and easily repeatable simulation will assist in developing better technique and conduct feasible thoracoscopic sleeve lobectomy.<br /> (Copyright © 2020 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
