Abstract
- 80% of Sickle Cell Disease cases are estimated to be in Sub-Saharan Africa. It can lead to various acute and chronic complications and osteonecrosis of the femoral head is one of these. Girdlestone procedure is an option to treat osteonecrosis in patients who could not afford arthroplasty. We report here the first case of bilateral total hip arthroplasty in a patient with a previous Girdlestone procedure on the right side and an osteonecrosis of the femoral hip on the left side.<br /> (Copyright 2020 Biolife Sas. www.biolifesas.org.)
