Abstract
- A new biphenyl compound: 5-aldehyde-4'-hydroxy-2,2'-dimethoxybiphenyl ( 1 ), along with 11 known phenolic compounds ( 2-12 ) were isolated from the stem of Ficus pumila Linn. Their structures were established by spectroscopic methods, including MS, UV, IR, 1 D and 2 D NMR. Compounds 4 and 10 showed weakly cytotoxicity against MCF-7, with IC <subscript>50</subscript> values of 32.5 and 37.3 µM, respectively.
