Abstract

In this study, nickel-loaded perovskite oxides catalysts were synthesized via the impregnation of 10%Ni on XTiO <subscript>3</subscript> (X = Ce, Sr, La, Ba, Ca, and Fe) supports and employed in the catalytic steam gasification of swine manure to produce H <subscript>2</subscript> -rich syngas for the first time. The synthesized catalysts were characterized using BET, H <subscript>2</subscript> -TPR, XRD, HR-TEM, and EDX analysis. Briefly, using perovskite supports resulted in the production of ultrafine catalyst nanoparticles with a uniform dispersion of Ni particles. According to the catalytic activity test, the gas yield showed the increment as 10% Ni/LaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/FeTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/CeTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/BaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/SrTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/CaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> . Meanwhile, zero coke formation was achieved due to the oxygen mobility of prepared catalysts. Also, the increase in the H <subscript>2</subscript> production for the applied catalysts was in the sequence as 10% Ni/CeTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/FeTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/LaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/BaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/SrTiO <subscript>3</subscript> < 10% Ni/CaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> . The maximum H <subscript>2</subscript> selectivity (∼48 vol%) obtained by10% Ni/CaTiO <subscript>3</subscript> was probably due to the synergistic effect of Ni and Ti on enhancing the water-gas shift reaction, and Ca on creating the maximum oxygen mobility compared to other alkaline earth metals doped at the A place of perovskite. Overall, this study provides a suitable solution for enhanced H <subscript>2</subscript> production through steam gasification of swine manure along with suggesting the appropriate supports to prevent Ni deactivation by lowering coke formation at the same time.<br />Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper.<br /> (Copyright © 2022 Elsevier Inc.
