- Competing Interests: SR-E is supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR203310). AD has received a NIHR Liver Disease Research Partnership Grant (Chief Investigator) on alcohol-related liver disease, with payments made to his institution. WR has received royalties or licenses from Siemens Healthineers, as the inventor of the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis test used in diagnosis and assessment of alcohol-related liver disease, and has received payment or honoraria for lectures, presentations, speakers bureaus, manuscript writing, and educational events from Siemens Healthineers. JRM receives salary support from University of Nottingham and Medical Research Council UK. All other authors declared no competing interests.
