Abstract
- Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have drawn a lot of attention from a variety of fields, particularly the biological and biomedical sciences. As a result, it is acknowledged that AgNPs' direct interactions with macromolecules such as DNA, proteins, and enzymes are essential for both therapeutic and nanotoxicological applications. Enzymes as important catalysts may interact with AgNP surfaces in a variety of ways. Therefore, mechanistic investigation into the molecular effects of AgNPs on enzyme conformation and function is necessary for a comprehensive assessment of their interactions. In this overview, we aimed to overview the various strategies for producing AgNPs. We then discussed the enzyme activity inhibition (EAI) mechanism by nanostructured particles, followed by an in-depth survey of the interaction of AgNPs with different enzymes. Furthermore, various parameters influencing the interaction of NPs and enzymes, as well as the antibacterial and anticancer effects of AgNPs in the context of the enzyme inhibitors, were discussed.
