Abstract
- Among hydrogen-bonded interpolymer complexes, PAA and PEO are quite attractive to scientists for their low cost, simple chain structure, low cost, etc. Taking advantages of these properties, many researches have been reported since last century. However, a majority of these research focuses on PAA-PEO complex in relatively low PAA ratio (0.5:1) are much fewer. Herein, in this study, properties and potential applications of PAA-PEO interpolymer complex films with high PAA ratios have been studied. First, FT-IR spectra showed that the consist of the prepared films and gave the evidence of the existence of hydrogen bonds between PAA and PEO, which are correspond to the formation of PAA-PEO interpolymer complex. Furthermore, tensile tests showed that all the prepared films have good mechanical properties, and the introduction of CaCl2 could strengthen their mechanical properties at low PAA ratio. Also, the creep-recovery and stress-relaxation tests showed that all the prepared films have good recovery properties and data showed that the introduction of CaCl2 make the recovery property of films decrease. However, for PAA-1.0 it fully recovered in both tests regardless the introduction of CaCl2. Finally, blood coagulation test indicates that for PAA-PEO films without calcium chloride could slightly slow down the clotting of citrated blood.
