Abstract

The article presents a study on foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) serotype SAT 3 in long-horned Ankole cattle in Nyakatonzi, Uganda in 2013. The study assays serum samples for antibodies against FMDV non-structural proteins (NSPs) and extracts RNA from the probing samples and analyzes for FMDC genomes via pan-serotypic real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The VPI coding sequence of the virus was 20 percent different from related virus strains.
