The article discusses extremes of nature or extremophile as environment for micobes. Topics discussed include retention of metabolism by microbes at extreme temperature, adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production and its role in biological reactions and comparison of energy available in environment and the energy needed for organisms' survival.
