Abstract
- This study proposes a model of work satisfaction and tests it against data from South Korea and Taiwan drawn from the ISSP's 2005 Work Orientation Survey. It argues that work control, defined as a worker's decision power in work arrangements, can increase commitments to firms, which, in turn, boosts job satisfaction. This study suggests using workers' control over both tasks and time to construct a typology of work control. Empirical results indicate that a mediating model best captures the causal process of work satisfaction. The two samples studied here show more similarity than diversity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
