Discovery of lethal doses of mercury in Lake St. Clair fishes; States that decided to shut their lakes and rivers to fishing; Estimated volume of poisonous mercury sludge being dump by chemical manufacturers annually; Pollution of the drinking water system; Failure of the government to do sufficient actions since the discovery of mercury pollution; Efforts of several factories to cut down on their mercury discharges; Call for the enforcement of strict water quality standards.
