Abstract
- The dialectical interface between mining and development of the affected communities, particularly tribal groups in the scheduled areas of Odisha, poses both challenges and opportunities. The sustainability of the new mineral-based growth strategy in the state depends to a great extent on realising a synthesis of antithetical forces at work by way of providing among other things, innovative institutional frameworks for benefit-sharing. The evolving statutory and policy measures should be aimed at addressing unmet popular needs and counteracting politics engendered from this gap. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
