Abstract

A highly sensitive and simple spectrofluorimetric method for the determination of copper(II) based on its fluorescence quenching effect on the hemoglobin-catalyzed reaction of HO with L-tyrosine was developed. The concentration of copper(II) is linear with the fluorescence quenching (Δ F) of system under the optimal experimental conditions. The calibration graph is linear in the range 2.7 to 5.3 × 10 ng/mL with the limit of detection of 2 ng/mL. This method can be used for the determination of copper(II) in foodstuffs and hair with satisfactory results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
