Abstract

The article focuses on the argument of the decision of General Robert E. Lee to fight at the Battle of Antietam in Maryland. It examines Lee's strategic goals and his plan for Union Major General George B. McClellan's Army of the Potomac along the banks of Antietam Creel in September 17, 1862. It also mentions how Lee's decision was part of his to draw the Army of the Potomac into a trap and destroy it in a battle of annihilation.
