Closure to "Optimization of Water Diversion Based on Reservoir Operating Rules: Analysis of the Biliu River Reservoir, China" by Xueping Zhu, Chi Zhang, Junxian Yin, Huicheng Zhou, and Yunzhong Jiang.

The article presents a clarification to a study which examined the use of inter-basin water diversion to solve a problem related to water shortage at the Biliu River Reservoir in China, in response to a comment about a paper published in this journal. Several issues are explained including the randomness of genetic algorithm (GA) and a heuristic-based optimization algorithm, the use of linear optimization models, and a comparison of a nonlinear objective function with a linear function.
