Abstract

The sedimentation rate is one of the most important facies parameters in sedimentation basins, including seas and oceans. This paper presents a review of available data on the average sedimentation rates for the last five marine isotope stages (last 130 kyr) in the Arctic Ocean (with exception of shelves). We have revealed the sharply expressed circumcontinental zonality and asymmetry in the distribution of the above-mentioned parameter. The influence of the solid discharge structure, oceanic circulation, ice conditions, climatic fluctuations, and bottom topography on the sedimentation rate is considered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
