Abstract

The article examines the persistent organic pollutants (POPs) that contaminated water resources in China, based on the European Union (EU)-China Environmental Sustainability Programme. These POPs include polyaromatic hydrocarbons and haloginated hydrocarbons with subcategories of pesticides, industrial chemicals and unintentional by-products. Also discussed are the water body assessment in China and the EU, remediation experience in European countries and the Sustain H<subscript>2</subscript>O Project.
