Abstract
- The article presents information about various associations, agencies, institutions, etc. of sociology. The First International Conference on "The Social Sciences and Medicine," will be held at Aberdeen, Scotland, September 4-6, 1968. The conference is being organized under the auspices of the journal "Social Science and Medicine," in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. Russell Sage Foundation has appointed Lindsey Churchill as staff sociologist from Cornell University, New York, to conduct a pilot study of information exchange through questioning, interviewing, and interrogation; Hugh F. Cline as staff sociologist from the University of California, Santa Barbara, California, to conduct a study of computer uses in social science research; Ivar Oxaal as staff sociologist from the University of Guyana, to conduct a study of Negro executives. The National Science Foundation has established a Special Commission on the Social Sciences. President of the Special Commission is Orville G. Brim, Jr., Russell Sage Foundation. The purpose of the new commission will be to make appropriate studies and recommendations to the National Science Foundation on uses of the social sciences.
