Abstract

The article focuses on some recent happenings in the field of family research. The Family Study Center at the University of Minnesota and sociologist W.J. Goode, Columbia University, New York, are both making an inventory of propositions about the family. Information about published work in regional or national journals or unpublished material will be welcomed. Abstracts of papers published in non-European languages are particularly requested by Reuben Hill at the Family Study Center. Reports of family research appear frequently in the professional journals of sociology and social anthropology. The journal Marriage and Family Living publishes more papers than the general journals. Family Process, a new multidisciplinary journal announces its first issue for March 1962. An interesting special number, of International Social Science Journal on Progress in Family Research is also announced for publication in 1962. World Congress of Sociology will meet from September 2-8, 1962, in Washington, D.C. The section on the family will meet for one day under the chairmanship of sociologist Reuben Hill. After the Congress of Seventh meeting of the International Seminar on Family Research will convene under the chairmanship of sociologist John Mogey for seven days.
