Prediction of YoungModulus of coal using artificial neural networks in Qinshui Basin, China.

The article presents a study on the prediction of Young's modulus, and shear modulus for the accurate assessment of elastic properties of coal rocks in Qinshui Basin, China using artificial neural networks. The use of traditional methods to obtain the compressive strength and elastic modulus is tackled. The applicability of artificial neural network to predict the Young's Modulus is also revealed.
