- The article focuses on shoe designer Aurora James, who founded fledging Brooklyn, New York City-based brand Brother Vellies in 2013 with a focus on African-made footwear. Her brand of shoes, which takes its name from the desert boots that came to South Africa via Dutch colonization, extends beyond women's to include men's and children's footwear as well. It mentions features of shoes designed by James.
