After defining types of cross-cultural research, studies of the following types are critically assessed: documentary studies, 'current statistics' studies, impressionistic field studies, field studies based on long-term observation, field studies based on interviews, 'case collection' studies, polling survey, social-psychological surveys, laboratory experiments, field experiments.
