Abstract

The article presents a case study of a 70-year-old retired Japanese real estate manager who developed Whipple's disease, a rare infectious disease characterized by abdominal pain, arthralgia, diarrhea, and weight loss. The patient, who had a two-month history of anorexia and a three-year history of weight loss, underwent several diagnostic procedures including electron microscopy of the intestinal villi and esophagogastroduodenoscopy. He received ceftriaxone as an initial treatment regimen. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
