Abstract

The article presents a more nuanced understanding of the epidemiology of undernutrition in India and relevant programmatic issues. It notes that malnourished children in India are managed at the village level by Anganwadi workers through village child development centers located at Anganwadi centers (AWCs) of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) while facility-based management of severe undernutrition is through nutritional rehabilitation centers (NRCs).
