Methoxyselenation of cyclopentene with selenium dibromide.

The article discusses developing of selenium dihalides, new electrophilic reagents, used for introducing selenium in the structureof organic compounds [4–8]. The reaction of selenium dibromide with cyclopentene in solution in a mixture MeOH–ССl4 in the presence of Na2CO3 afforded previously unknown bis(2-methoxycyclopentyl)-selenide 1 in 96% yield and the compound 1 was proved by 1Н and13С NMR spectra. It may be used in the synthesis of new functional organoselenium compounds.
