Abstract

Five new organic–inorganic hybrid compounds based on different polyoxoanions [H<subscript>x</subscript>GeW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]<superscript>n−</superscript> or [H<subscript>3</subscript>As<subscript>2</subscript>W<subscript>18</subscript>O<subscript>62</subscript>]<superscript>3−</superscript> (x = 0, 2; n = 4, 2), namely [Cu<subscript>3</subscript>(2,2′-bpy)<subscript>3</subscript>(inic)(OH)(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)][GeW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]·1.5H<subscript>2</subscript>O (1), [Cu<subscript>2</subscript>(phen)<subscript>2</subscript>(μ<subscript>2</subscript>-Cl)<subscript>2</subscript>(inic)]<subscript>2</subscript>[H<subscript>2</subscript>GeW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>]·2H<subscript>2</subscript>O (2), [Cu<subscript>2</subscript>(phen)<subscript>2</subscript>(μ<subscript>2</subscript>-Cl)Cl(nic)]<subscript>2</subscript>[H<subscript>2</subscript>GeW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>] (3), [Cu<subscript>2</subscript>(2,2′-bpy)<subscript>2</subscript>(hnic)Cl]<subscript>2</subscript>[H<subscript>2</subscript>GeW<subscript>12</subscript>O<subscript>40</subscript>] (4), [Cu(phen)(inic)H<subscript>2</subscript>O][Cu<subscript>2</subscript>(phen)<subscript>2</subscript>(inic)<subscript>2</subscript>(H<subscript>2</subscript>O)][H<subscript>3</subscript>As<subscript>2</subscript>W<subscript>18</subscript>O<subscript>62</subscript>]·3H<subscript>2</subscript>O (5) (inic = isonicotinic acid, nic = nicotinic acid, hnic = 2-hydroxy-nicotinic acid, 2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, cyclic voltammetric measurements and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 is isomorphous and isostructural with a compound reported by us recently, the main difference between the two is the heteroatom of the polyoxoanions in the two compounds. Compound 2 is a supramolecular structure constructed from polyoxoanions and transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes. Compound 3 is a novel polyoxoanion bi-supported transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complex. Compound 4 is a 1-D chain structure constructed from polyoxoanions and transition metal mixed-organic-ligand complexes. The photodegradation properties of compounds 1–5 have been analyzed.
