Abstract

Distributed energy storage (DES) offers a number of benefits to improve the power system reliability. This paper presents an improved corrective security constrained optimal power flow (CSCOPF) with DES system. The proposed DES model takes into account the current state of charge (SOC) and the energy capacity model of the DES. The corrective control actions employed in the paper include not only the traditional long-term rescheduling control actions, but also the short-term post-contingency fast corrective control of the DES. A hybrid method is developed to solve the improved CSCOPF problem, and the effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated and demonstrated in the paper by three example power systems.
