Abstract

The article focuses on the history of religion, worship, civilization and liturgy in France during the 19th century. Topics discussed include the book "The Civilisation of Manners," in which author Norbert Elias highlighted the role of the church as an agent for implementing the practices of the court among the social groups of the lower class; the role of the church in the civilising of manners; and liturgical unity of Rome, which is an ensemble of social and cultural practices for manners.
