Abstract
- The article describes the faults which prevent average golfers from hitting good approaches. Topics covered include the tendency for golfers to swing the longer irons back too far so they get a bounce effect at the top, the importance of keeping the backswing in check and the problem posed by trying to lift the ball off the ground to hit it high. Also recommended is taking an 8- or 9-iron and using a three-quarter action.
