Abstract

Enzyme‐free sequence selection is an essential process for the emergence of first life. In their Communication on page 6676 ff., C. B. Mast and co‐workers show how a ubiquitous heat flux across a pore separates different DNA sequences with single‐base resolution. The picture shows a postulated prebiotic scenario of how a dilute mix of different sequences is thermophoretically concentrated and demixed by their sequence‐selective gelation.
