Abstract
- An interview with "The Underground Railroad" author Colson Whitehead is presented. When asked about how he came about the story of "The Underground Railroad," he reminisced his notion for a literal railroad, leading up to the slavery topics while working on "John Henry Days." Whitehead also mentioned the vast amounts of digital research material available as with the Work Progress Administration records as well as interviews and personal accounts. He also cited the Tuskegee syphilis experiment.
