Nostalgic Jíbaro: A Structure of Loss in U.S. Puerto Rican Literature.

The article analyzes the structure of loss in U.S. Puerto Rican literature in the historical and mythical persona of the jíbaro/a, a symbol of national and cultural identity of Puerto Ricans. Topics discussed include the apostheosis of the bind that U.S. colonial racialization places on a diasporic Puerto Rican, trope of the nostalgic jíbaro/a and the effect of intertextuality on racialization.
