Porphyrin and subphthalocyaninatoboron(iii) chromophores have been fused through a quinoxaline moiety, resulting in the first porphyrin–subphthalocyaninatoboron(iii)-fused hybrid with intramolecular charge transfer from tetrapyrrole/tripyrrole chromophores to the quinoxaline moiety.
