Abstract

This article presents information on traffic rule violations in Australia. In December 2003, Victoria's top police prosecutor escaped a speed camera fine after a magistrates' court hearing that lasted less than a minute. Allegations were levelled against authorities who were not prosecuting unpaid fines because they were concerned about the legal validity of the process. If there isn't mail delivery to the residential address, people are unaware they've been fined. The acting traffic commissioner denied that misreadings were a widespread issue and refused to turn the cameras off for a widespread system test.
