Abstract
- The article discusses racial discrimination against Eastern and Southern Soviets residing in Leningrad and Moscow during the 1970s and 1980s in the Soviet Union. During the period of decolonization, dark-skinned and dark-haired migrants became the target of racial epitaphs based on their "blackness." The study is based on oral histories of migrants from the Caucasus, Central Asia, and eastern regions of the Soviet Union taken in 2012 and 2013.
