Abstract

The article focuses on a study to examine use of proxemics by an autonomous sociable robot in human-robot interaction. Topics discussed include speech and gestures recognized by robots in a face-to-face social interaction; mobile interactions of robots and determination of appropriate human-robot proxemics. It also mentions that the study was supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship, the NSF National Robotics Initiative and NSF grants.
